If you’re interested in a more detailed guide to the city than our orientation program and resources offer, the local city tour includes a variety of historic and cultural destinations that tell the story of the city’s past, present, and future. That includes a look at the most progressive areas of the city, where today’s innovation is propelling Guadalajara into the future. For maximum accessibility, the two-story tour bus is equipped with audio tracks in multiple languages. Costs are in Mexican pesos:

On top of all the things to do in Guadalajara, there are also shopping and tourism destinations nearby in both the villages of the Lake Chapala region. The town of Chapala itself includes an old American residential colony that may be of interest to students from the U.S., and Ajijic is the home of a variety of shops featuring local crafts, leatherwork, jewelry, and more.

The tour is six hours and includes a one-hour lunch, and the trip out to Lake Chapala is approximately 48 km from the city of Guadalajara. Tours are on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday and depart at 9:30 a.m.

You will be taken to the land of Tequila in a comfortable bus. Visit a hacienda and see the cultivation of the blue agave. After experiencing the Mexican ranch, you will visit the processing plant where the distilling process is explained and the aging
warehouses.

Take a trip to the town of Tequila, and enjoy complimentary snacks and drinks. Once the bus arrives, you will head directly to Casa Sauza where a tour guide shows you the premises and explains the rich history of Casa Sauza. Next, you will visit the production
area, followed by the old distillery where you can see all the tools and instruments of the time. Finally, you will enjoy a buffet lunch of Mexican dishes accompanied by a live show of folk dances, charro tricks, impersonators,
and mariachi music.

The “Guachimontones ” are located in Teuchitlan, located just one hour and 30 minutes from Guadalajara. Considered one of the most important archaeological zones of Mexico, the complex and pyramids were built around 200
B.C. and 400 A.D.

You will visit the Teuchitlan Museum, where several artifacts of the inhabitants of the Guachimontones are found. Here you will see the archaeological site in a scale model, showing the nine round pyramids. After visiting
this museum, you visit the archaeological site for an interesting and unusual experience.

Discover the small town of Mazamitla in the mountains of the state of Jalisco. Its name comes from the Nahuatl and means “place where arrows to hunt deer are made. ” Take in beautiful mountain and forest scenery as you explore hiking trails and waterfalls.

You can enjoy the sights of a beautiful waterfall while admiring the landscapes of the mountains. In the stunning surrounding forest, you may enjoy many ecotourism and outdoor activities such as:
